Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Procurement Manager to oversee the purchasing function across our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effective procurement, and supporting production planning and inventory control. The Procurement Manager will collaborate closely with leadership, operations, and the quality team to ensure optimal material flow and supplier performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the procurement function, including buyers and purchasing staff.
- Develop, implement, and improve procurement strategies to support production goals.
- Evaluate, select, and manage key suppliers for raw materials, MRO items, and services.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and delivery agreements to achieve cost savings.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and lead corrective actions when required.
- Coordinate closely with production, scheduling, and inventory teams to forecast demand and maintain material availability.
- Review and approve purchase requisitions and high-value purchase orders.
- Ensure ERP system accuracy for supplier, material, and order data (e.g., JobBOSS).
- Implement inventory control improvements and reduce excess or obsolete materials.
- Analyze procurement data and trends to inform budgeting and cost-reduction strategies.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal policies and industry regulations.
- Report regularly on procurement KPIs, supplier risk, and material availability.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing/procurement, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (JobBOSS experience preferred).
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Primarily a desk-based role with occasional walking or standing on the production floor.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., moving materials, samples, or documents).
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:
- PPE is required when entering production areas (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection).
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must follow all company safety protocols and procedures when working in or around production areas.
