Medications Coordinator Job Description
General Summary
This job description applies to other job titles like; Medications Coordinator, Weekend Manager,
Shift Supervisor, Licenses Practical Nurse & Lead Staff.
This position will be supervised by the Program Manager and District Manager and will:
1) Facilitate the implementation of all in-house programming and safety procedures.
2) Monitor and assist residents in all areas of socialization.
3) Facilitate the implementation of resident’s individual treatment plan.
4) Assure the proper and thorough training of subordinate employees.
Description of Work
General Supervision:
1) In addition to supervising, assisting and monitoring the responsibilities and job performance of
all Direct Care Staff, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the safety and security of the home
and residents whenever the Home Manager is not available.
2) Implement daily program goals, assisting residents in all areas necessary in the development of
their treatment plans. For example:
a) Supervise the evening and midnight hours at the program to ensure an organized care
environment and assist residents in establishing and maintaining reasonable sleeping habits
and preparation for the next day’s activities, work or school. Assure compliance with
evening appointments, and distribution of medications as prescribed by the doctor and
assure proper documentation of any medication changes.
b) Medications Coordination duties are a common assigned responsibility of the Assistant
Manager.
c) Assure proper documentation of any unusual incidents, outings, medications, and all in-
home data currently in use in your specific program. Assure timely completion of all
monthly data collection required by your home consultants.
d) Assure the availability of petty cash necessary to maintain compliance with goals and general
needs of the residents and home.
e) Monitor vehicle use and maintenance by providing routine maintenance such as oil, fluids,
and assuring there is gas necessary to meet the morning needs of residents. Also assure there
is transportation available to meet evening schedules.
f) Confer with Program Manager and Midnight staff at shift change the status of residents.
g) Assist staff and residents in developing positive social skills using community resources.
h) Provide both formal counseling to staff and informal counseling to the residents.
i) Participate in the development of new programs and activities, which will best serve the
residents.
3) Supervise, provide and coordinate a continuum of care for the residents with other staff by:
a) Attending all scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
b) Maintaining a positive, professional relationship with residents, co-workers, supervisor,
guardians, and home consultants
c) Learning and adhering to all home policies and procedures as delegated by the Program
Manager, District Manager, and Mental Health Agency.
d) Assist residents with personal care needs. This could include heavy lifting for the purpose of
transferring or positioning residents with ambulation disabilities.
e) Report changes in behavioral, mental and physical health to immediate supervisor.
f) Assist new residents in establishing compliance with program guidelines and house rules.

g) Document incidents and accident reports using proper procedures, to assure the humane
and dignified treatment of the residents.
h) Become knowledgeable of the programs funding and follow budget.
Qualification necessary for the position
1. Must be able to complete required reports and follow written and oral instructions that are
related to the care and supervision of residents.
2. A high school diploma or general education diploma or equivalent.
3. Must be suitable to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of each
resident.
4. Must be capable of handling emergency situations.
5. Before performing assigned tasks, must be competent in all of the following areas:
a. Reporting requirements
b. First Aid
c. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
d. Personal care, supervision and protection
e. Resident rights
f. Safety and fire prevention
g. Prevention and containment of communicable diseases
6. Must be in such physical and mental health so as not to negatively affect either the health of
the resident, or the quality of his/her care.
