Crisis Manager (Job Description)
Position Summary
The Crisis Manager oversees and coordinates the crisis intervention and stabilization services for the agency. This role involves managing a team of crisis staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, implementing crisis response protocols, and providing direct support during critical situations. The Crisis Manager plays a key role in promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for clients experiencing mental health crises. Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
· Recruit, train, and supervise crisis intervention Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs).
· Schedule and coordinate on-call rotations for crisis response.
· Conduct regular team meetings and debriefings after critical incidents.
· Develop and maintain performance evaluations.
Program Oversight:
· Develop, implement, and maintain crisis stabilization protocols and procedures.
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of crisis response teams and services.
· Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
· Serve as a liaison between the agency, clients, families, and external partners during crisis situations.
Compliance and Documentation:
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing crisis services.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all crisis-related activities.
· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of crisis intervention services.
· Monitor and audit for chart compliance.
· Maintain accurate records of crisis interventions
· Prepare reports for administration and regulatory bodies (Medicaid, Licensing, etc.).
Community Outreach:
· Coordinate with other mental health professionals, law enforcement, emergency services, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive care.
· Represent the agency at local meetings, events, and task forces related to crisis intervention.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
· Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mental health crisis intervention (23-hour, Mobile Crisis Response (MCR), and/or Community Stabilization (CS)), with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
· Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or equivalent preferred (L-type). Participate in Mobile Crisis Response training.
· Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure. Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies. Knowledge of mental health laws, ethics, and crisis intervention techniques.
· Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mental health disorders, crisis response protocols, and community resources.
Work Environment:
May involve irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties. Frequent interaction with individuals in crisis. You may be required to complete assessments at times.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
