Position Overview:
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) plays a vital role in providing direct clinical services to individuals, families, and groups experiencing mental health issues. The QMHP is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and case management to support clients in achieving mental and emotional well-being. This role involves working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treatment Planning: Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans that reflect client goals, using evidence-based practices. Monitor and update treatment plans regularly based on progress or changes in client status.
- Counseling and Therapy: Provide individual and family therapy using various therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or motivational interviewing. Promote coping skills, emotional regulation, and overall mental health improvement.
- Crisis Intervention: Deliver immediate interventions to clients experiencing a crisis, and coordinate referrals to emergency or inpatient services when necessary.
- Case Management: Collaborate with external agencies, community partners, and service providers to connect clients with necessary resources (e.g., housing, employment, healthcare). Coordinate multidisciplinary care to meet clients’ holistic needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, thorough, and confidential records of client services and progress in accordance with legal and organizational policies. Ensure timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Advocacy and Education: Provide psychoeducation to clients and families to enhance understanding of mental health conditions and coping mechanisms. Advocate for clients’ access to resources and appropriate care within the community.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA. Follow ethical guidelines and best practices as outlined by professional standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counseling) required. Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Licensure (if applicable): Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state (e.g., QMHP, LPC, LCSW, LMFT). Certification requirements may vary depending on state regulations.
- Experience: At least 1-3 years of experience working in mental health, substance use, or community-based settings. Experience in crisis stabilization, case management, or outpatient treatment is highly desirable.
