Disability Social Skills Services - Young Adult Assistant Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
Pathways to Independence is seeking a committed, creative, and passionate individual to join our close-knit team of disability service providers. The Assistant Program Manager for Young Adults will support the planning and implementation of social and educational activities designed to assist fairly independent young adults with complex learning disabilities, autism, and associated disorders. This position is a mix of administrative and direct support responsibilities and is responsible for ensuring that group programming and individualized coaching allow participants to make progress towards social goals, build meaningful relationships, and participate more effectively in their community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Registration
- Manage the monthly registration of Young Adult participants
- Communicate with participants and families to encourage active participation and enforce event limits
- Manage cancellations and waitlists throughout the month
- Monitor changes to event registration. Do any recruitment needed, and keep Program Managers/Director up to date on any necessary changes to events or staffing
Planning & Preparation
- Collaborate with Program Manager to plan the monthly Young Adult Social Calendar and Social College Classes
- Lead role in sending out the monthly Young Adult Social Calendar (e.g. creating flyers, editing, formatting, printing, mailing, emailing)
- Collaborate with Adult Program Coordinator in completing monthly Google Registration Document, Van Reservations, and Google Calendar entry
- Send Event Reminders to participants/families in advance of all Young Adult Events
- Create and send Staff Reminder Emails for all Young Adult events (including goal sheets and special information to be aware of)
- Plan and prepare for weekly Young Adult events (e.g. preparing materials &, supplies, purchasing tickets or making reservations, etc)
Implementation
- Supervise community-based opportunities as offered primarily by the Young Adult Calendar. (includes weekly evening events, and around 2 weekend events per month)
- Provide van transportation from the Pathways office for some community based events
Case Management
- Act as case manager for specified case load, including individual support plan development, follow-up, and tracking of goals and participation.
Documentation
- Complete documentation of all applicable services in a timely manner, in accordance with agency and funder guidelines
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with special events such as the Annual Picnic and holiday parties.
- Assist with fundraising initiatives.
- Weekly staff meetings
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Experience
- Associates Degree, preferably with a background in recreation and/or social services, or 5 years experience in the social service field, preferably working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Missouri Class E driver’s license & Motor Vehicle Insurance
- Adult CPR and Standard First Aid
Skills and Abilities
- Ability and willingness to work weekly evening events (Mon-Fri) and around 2 weekend events per month.
- Energetic, creative individual with good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to promote independence, community involvement, social skill enhancement, leadership skills and safety awareness for adults with disabilities.
- Experience planning and/or facilitating groups or classes, both in-person and virtually
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Strong computer skills and ability to use Google Drive, video conferencing software, and documentation programs effectively.
- Contributes to the organization’s mission and values by working effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Ability to exercise discretion regarding confidential information.
- Ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES OR DEMANDS
- Must be independently mobile throughout the work environment.
- Sitting, hearing, talking, reaching, walking, stooping/bending, and lifting light objects.
- Must have independent transportation to and from meetings and appointments as needed.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS
- Work is conducted partially in office environment which is climate-controlled with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Work is conducted partially in community locations including climate-controlled facilities and in non-climate-controlled environments with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,781.00 - $45,625.00 per year
