Disability Social Skills Services - Young Adult Program Manager

Position Summary
Pathways to Independence is seeking a committed, creative, and passionate individual to join our close-knit team of disability service providers. The Program Manager for Young Adults will take a lead role in the management of the Young Adult program which provides social and educational activities designed to assist fairly independent young adults with complex learning disabilities, autism, and associated disorders. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring that group programming and individualized coaching allow participants to make progress towards social goals, build meaningful relationships, and participate more effectively in their community.

Key Responsibilities
Lead & Support
- Manage the Young Adult Program
- Oversee recruitment and promotion
- Continuously evaluate the structure and growth of the YA Program, developing strategies to manage growth and expansion
- Determine appropriate staffing ratios and support monthly staffing process
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of program participants while on Pathways events while upholding the highest safety standards
- Supervise volunteers or interns when acting as lead staff. Assist with volunteers at all other times
- Participate in the development and work towards organizational strategic goals
Application & Intake
- Manage intake of Young Adult participants
- Responsible for tracking of and communication with interested program participants/families
- Complete initial meetings and manage trial phase of participation
- Complete intake appointments with applicants who want to enroll after their trial period
- Complete proper documentation including the development and completion of an initial Individual Support Plan, participant file establishment and completion of supporting paperwork
- Implement strategies to ensure initial acclimation and long-term retention of Young Adult program participants
- Manage waitlist when applicable (including communication with waitlisted families, planning of waitlist social events, and transitions into the program)
Case Management
- Act as case manager for specified case load (primarily YA), including individual support plan development, follow-up, and tracking of goals and participation.
- Maintain close communication with all Young Adult families to ensure program satisfaction and adequate support for Young Adult participants
- Assist in participant referrals and connections with additional supports
- Manage the transition process of Young Adults to the Adult program
Planning & Preparation
- Collaborate with the Assistant Program Manager to develop the monthly Young Adult Social Calendar
- Ensure that purposeful skill building and community access opportunities are offered that respond to participants’ interests and needs, as well as responding to changes in participation levels or agency objectives
- Collaborate to determine the curriculum and class plans for Young Adult Social College classes offered monthly
Implementation
- Supervise community-based opportunities as offered by the Young Adult Calendar, and by the Adult Social Growth calendar as needed (includes weekly evening events, and around 2 weekend events per month)
- Provide van transportation from the Pathways office for some community based events
Documentation
- Complete documentation of all applicable services in a timely manner, in accordance with agency and funder guidelines
On Call
- Primary contact for staff one week per month (Tuesday-Monday)
- Available to answer questions before or during events
- Responsible for outreach/finding coverage if staff are unable to work
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with special events such as the Annual Picnic and holiday parties.
- Assist with fundraising initiatives.
- Weekly staff meetings
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a background in recreation and/or social services, or 5 years’ experience in the social service field, preferably working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Missouri Class E driver’s license & Motor Vehicle Insurance
- Adult CPR and Standard First Aid
Skills and Abilities
- Ability and willingness to work around 2 weekly evening events (Mon-Fri) and around 2 weekend events per month.
- Energetic, creative individual with good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to promote independence, community involvement, social skill enhancement, leadership skills and safety awareness for adults with disabilities.
- Experience planning and facilitating groups or classes, both in-person and virtually
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Strong computer skills and ability to use Google Drive, video conferencing software, and documentation programs effectively.
- Contributes to the organization’s mission and values by working effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Ability to exercise discretion regarding confidential information.
- Ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES OR DEMANDS
- Must be independently mobile throughout the work environment.
- Sitting, hearing, talking, reaching, walking, stooping/bending, and lifting light objects.
- Must have independent transportation to and from meetings and appointments as needed.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS
- Work is conducted partially in office environment which is a climate-controlled with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Work is conducted partially in community locations including climate-controlled facilities and in non-climate-controlled environments with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
