Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual with basketball playing experience who is looking to transition into coaching and training. This position is a paid internship under the mentorship of our Head Basketball Trainer. Over the course of 6 weeks, you will be trained in coaching techniques, drills, and athlete development, with the potential to become a full-time member of our coaching staff based on performance and fit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Basketball Trainer in delivering high-quality basketball training sessions for athletes of all ages and skill levels.
- Lead small group training sessions, focusing on individual skill development (shooting, ball-handling, defense, footwork, etc.).
- Observe and assist with one-on-one training sessions, providing support to athletes and offering constructive feedback.
- Help maintain and prepare the training facility, ensuring equipment is properly set up and stored.
- Observe athletes’ progress and assist in tracking performance metrics (e.g., shooting percentages, speed, agility, etc.).
- Participate in athlete assessments and contribute ideas for training programs and improvements.
- Provide encouragement and motivational support to athletes, fostering a positive and productive training environment.
- Stay engaged in continuous learning about basketball coaching strategies and player development.
Qualifications:
- Previous playing experience at the high school or collegiate level (competitive basketball).
- Strong passion for basketball and athlete development.
- Interest in pursuing a career in coaching or basketball training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with athletes of all ages and backgrounds.
- Positive attitude, team-oriented, and dedicated to continuous improvement.
- Ability to receive and implement feedback from the Head Basketball Trainer.
- Basic understanding of basketball fundamentals, including offense, defense, and conditioning.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred but not Required:
- Previous coaching or training experience is a plus, but not necessary.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR is beneficial, but not required.
Compensation:
- Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
- Duration: 6-week internship (with potential for long-term hire based on performance).
- Hours: Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends based on training schedules.
