The Medical Customer Service Representative will answer inquiries and provide information to the general public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties regarding services provided at the offices. Perform administrative duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and practice, clinic, or laboratory procedures. Schedule and register patients for visits, verify insurance, check out patients, and collect co-pays.
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Stand and properly greet patients / visitors entering the clinic.
- Treat patients and co-workers consistent with Patient Plus Urgent Care's Mission and Vision Statement.
- Register and check in patients for visits.
- Verify insurance and collect correct payment.
- Balance and reconcile cash registers, EBO, and Rectangular.
- Reconciles daily receipts within established guidelines as directed.
- Answer phone calls and assist callers by answering questions or routing calls to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist new patients with paperwork, if needed, and periodically update patients on their wait status.
- Monitor the flow of patients, including placing patients into rooms as needed.
- Ensures an adequate stock of front office supplies and proper equipment functioning.
- Always maintain patient(s) confidentiality.
- Treat all patients with the highest respect in all job functions.
- Monitor patient waiting room, restroom, and children’s play area for cleanliness and security.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
High School Graduate or GED
1 year front desk experience in a medical environment required.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Demonstrated computer skills for documenting patient care in an electronic medical record
ICD-10 CM Knowledge a plus
Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing
Ability to work independently and as a team
Ability to read and comprehend patient medical charts, medical terminology, prescription medications, and physician messages
Willing to work hours clinic is open 9am-9pm
Willing to travel to other clinics as needed
