PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Construction Manager provides on-site oversight, coordination, management and technical expertise for all aspects of the project construction and interfaces on a daily basis with discipline supervisors and the site safety advisor to ensure project specifications are being followed and work is proceeding on schedule within budget.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with discipline supervisors and project manager to assure crews and subcontractors are working efficiently to meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts and schedules
Integrates safety into project plans, reinforces safety policies, supports safety trainings and corrects unsafe conditions
Supervises total construction effort to ensure productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment and contractual performance goals are being met
Review subcontractor work packages
Assists discipline supervisors with project scope development, questions and problem resolutions
Systematically and regularly appraises and evaluates progress against goals, timelines and objectives
Conducts daily site coordination meetings with all subcontractors
Ensures project environmental, regulatory and safety requirements are adhered to during construction activities
Assists start-up team during the start-up, commissioning and testing of the facility
Position Reports to : Site Project Manager
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in construction management is preferred
Relevant career experience in the construction industry and exposure to EPC projects in the electric power delivery sector is preferred
20 - 25 years of substation or related facility construction experience with a track record of achievement on large complex projects
Strong technical background in the installation and operation of high voltage electrical facilities and associated subsystems
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), craft agreements, jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, schedule and safety
