Staff Accountant PRCC

Patriot Rail is a growing company that is looking for a dynamic professional to join its GL Accounting team.  This individual will be responsible for timely, complete and accurate accounting records for multiple entity locations. The Staff Accountant is a critical position who will interact with various departments and ultimately help support the company’s financial statement close process. This position is a full time, exempt position based in Jacksonville, Florida.

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Prepare, calculate, and enter monthly journal entries into the accounting system

·         Responsible for accounting for multiple entities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·         Coordinate month-end process with various operations managers, Accounts Payable and Revenue teams

·         Analyze monthly financial performance against budget and prepare variance explanations

·         Prepare ad hoc management reports as needed for research and explanation purposes

·         Research, identify and correct unusual or incorrect accounting entries

·         Prepare schedules and sample selections for audit requests

·         Perform other job-related duties as directed

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

·         Must have a strong foundation of accounting knowledge and be able to consistently apply GAAP

·         Must possess flexibility with work assignments and be able to multi-task

·         Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and organized

·         Must maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information

·         Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment

·         Friendly and proven ability to work cross-functionally

·         Must have advanced computer and Excel skills

·         General knowledge of accounting and ERP systems

·         General knowledge of SAP preferred

Minimum Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type and hear. Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. Associate is typically in an office environment but occasional may travel and/or visits a railroad, facility, warehouse or outdoor environment.
