Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced underground utility leadman to join our team as a full-time employee. In this role you are required to be extremely proficient in all aspects of pipeline installation and repair. You will be responsible for the crew truck and tools. Occasionally you will be responsible for picking up parts or tools at supply houses or from the company yard.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Coordinating with Foreman, Pipelayers and Logistics regarding jobs.
· Locating existing underground utilities.
· Install underground waterlines, sanitary sewer lines and storm sewer lines.
· Backfill waterlines, sanitary sewer lines and storm drain lines utilizing vibratory plates, tampers (jumping jacks) and remote-controlled trench compactors.
· Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
· Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.
· Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
· Knowledge of welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fit pipes.
· Knowledge of proper pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps, cuts or bores holes prior to project.
· Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements.
· Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
· Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
· Comply with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
· Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans.
· Familiarity with GPS systems for grading and excavation (preferred).
· Strong knowledge of safe operating practices and OSHA safety standards.
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
· Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform strenuous tasks.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Employees will rotate on an on-call basis.
· Employment would require some in-state travel.
