Job Description: Lead Groomer

Location: Patriots Pet Care, Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC Area

Overview: As a Lead Groomer at Patriots Pet Care, you will serve as the cornerstone of our grooming operations, combining exceptional grooming expertise with strong leadership capabilities. You will oversee the grooming team, ensure consistent service quality, and create an environment where pets receive compassionate, safe, and high-quality care. The Lead Groomer is also responsible for mentoring staff, maintaining grooming standards, and fostering a strong relationship with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Professional Grooming Services:

Perform high-quality grooming services, including:

  • Bathing, brushing, and de-shedding treatments.
  • Breed-specific and creative haircuts.
  • Nail trimming and grinding, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing. o Ensure pets’ comfort and safety throughout the grooming process.

2. Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Oversee daily grooming operations, including scheduling and workflow management. o Train, mentor, and evaluate grooming team members to ensure consistency in service quality.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.

3. Customer Service and Communication:

  • Engage with clients to understand their grooming needs and preferences.
  • Address client concerns and feedback professionally and effectively.
  • Provide recommendations for ongoing pet grooming care and additional services.

4. Operational Excellence:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in grooming areas and ensure compliance with sanitation protocols.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance of grooming tools and equipment.
  • Monitor grooming supplies and coordinate with management for inventory replenishment.

5. Health and Safety:

  • Conduct pre-groom health assessments on pets to identify any potential concerns.
  • Handle pets of all temperaments safely and compassionately.
  • Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of both pets and staff.

6. Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of grooming services, including notes on pet behavior and health observations.
  • Provide updates to management on team performance and operational needs

Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of professional grooming experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a grooming setting is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Expertise in various grooming techniques and breed-specific standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable handling pets of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Capable of lifting pets weighing up to 50 lbs.
