Responsibilities
Job Purpose
Pattern Energy is excited to hire our summer 2024 Interns! Pattern’s Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to develop technical skills, as well as a better understanding of the renewable energy industry. This internship program will run for approximately 10-12 weeks and include a formal welcome week, mentorship opportunities, executive exposure and travel opportunities. This is one way that Pattern Energy supports the larger renewable energy community and invests in the next generation of great minds.
Assist the lead project managers in the development of new renewable fuel projects in the United States and Canada. Additionally, help support the Green Fuels Business Development team with various tasks to ensure successful execution of development strategy and day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist internal and external due diligence teams to evaluate potential investment opportunities and provide input on the overall deal assessment
- Analyze emerging regulatory frameworks, incentives, and policies impacting the green hydrogen industry
- Evaluate potential partners, suppliers, and off-takers for green fuels projects
- Assist in preparation of management presentations to justify investment opportunities
- Track project development tasks including permitting, equipment procurement, construction, real estate, feedstock supply, product off-take, electric transmission, schedule, community and government relations, etc
- Help develop and track project milestone and critical path activities for project schedules
- Prepare and edit project documentation and marketing materials including presentations for internal and external use
- Support project budgeting and forecasting activities, and tracking project information in database systems
- Support the management of data rooms and project information to be shared internally and externally
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
Required Education and Qualifications
- Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program
- Must be a rising Junior or first semester Senior or in first year of Master’s degree
- Preference for Business/Economics/Engineering degree but open to all majors
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in team environment
- Basic abilities in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
Preferred Attributes
- Passion for renewable energy and emerging green fuels markets
- Familiarity with financial concepts and market dynamics within the energy industry
- Basic knowledge and understanding of energy systems
This position will commence in late May/early June through August 2024. Intern will preferably be based out of the Houston or San Francisco offices.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $20.00 - $32.00. This range is an estimate and base pay may be based on several factors including but not limited to location, previous work experience, certifications, and education level. In addition to base pay, Pattern provides an invaluable hands-on internship experience involving travel, socials, access to top notch software and exposure to upper management.
