Job Overview
As a Lead Field Technician at Paul Davis of Greater Portland, you will play a vital role in our property mitigation, remediation, and restoration efforts.
You will manage on-site mitigation, remediation, and restoration projects, lead a team of technicians, and ensure all work meets industry and insurance standards. This position requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to helping customers through difficult situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field technicians on residential and commercial job sites
- Prep truck or van before going to the job site.
- Set up and operate drying equipment for water damage mitigation, including moisture meters, dehumidifiers, air movers/scrubbers, and other specialized equipment.
- Perform water extraction, structural drying, contents pack-out, fire cleanup, and mold remediation services
- Repair damaged structures (e.g., drywall, flooring) and contents with hand tools and equipment
- Assist the project manager in conducting thorough damage assessments and creating detailed scope of work plans
- Monitor job progress and ensure projects are completed according to schedule
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting via photos, measurements, and detailed notes in accordance with insurance and company standards
- Work closely with project managers to ensure project timelines and expectations are met
- Communicate effectively with customers, project manager, and field technicians
- Ensure compliance with insurance and company protocols
- Provide on-call emergency response on a rotating basis – must be available on weekends
Required Qualifications
- A background in construction, trade work, or property restoration is preferred. However, on-the-job training will be provided.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to work in challenging environments and situations
- Availability to respond to after-hours emergency calls
- Clean criminal and civil background check per insurance compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- ASD (Applied Structural Drying) and WRT (Water Restoration Technician) certifications
- Additional IICRC certifications (e.g., Fire & Smoke Technician, Mold Remediation) are a plus but not required—training will be provided.
- Trade or construction background
- Experience with restoration estimating software
- Knowledge of insurance claim procedures
- Eagerness to learn and jump in where needed
