Job Title: IT NOC Desktop Support Specialist
Primary Location: Northbrook Ideally onsite in the office or traveling to client sites around the Chicago area. Must have a car.
Position Type: Direct Hire or could do a contract to hire
Compensation Information - this role is paying around 55K to 60K base salary or $25 to $30/hr contract to hire.

Key points:
This role is looking for around 2 plus years NOC level 1 (Network Operations Center) experience working in IT consulting, Managed Service Provider, or outsourced IT.
Need basic networking knowledge including what is a VLAN, how does static routing work in a network, and what does a MAC address tell you about a device.
Need someone who has been exposed to this environment of where IT teams continuously monitor and manage the health and performance of a company's network, essentially acting as the first line of defense against network disruptions. Ideally someone who is looking to get out of the constant robotic open a ticket, respond to customer, close ticket. This role offers and needs a human interaction approach to IT rather than the automated calls/emails that most big IT and MSPs have now.
Need some of these basic Key skills for an NOC professional:
- Some understanding of Network protocols and technologies: like TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, firewalls, and network security concepts.
- Monitoring tools: Proficiency in using network monitoring tools like SNMP, Syslog, and dedicated network monitoring platforms to identify potential issues.
- Troubleshooting: Excellent ability to diagnose and resolve network problems quickly, including identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Log analysis: Skillful interpretation of system and network logs to identify anomalies and potential security threats.
- System administration: Basic knowledge of server administration, including operating systems (Windows, Linux) and related applications.
- Communication skills: Clear and concise communication both verbally and in writing to effectively interact with other teams, including technical and non-technical personnel, and document issues.
- Adaptability and quick learning: Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and situations, as network environments can change rapidly.
