Job Description
The Salvage Yard Laborer/Vehicle Processor is responsible for dismantling vehicles and preparing them for crushing. This includes draining fluids, removing batteries, catalytic converters, radiators, mercury switches, tires/rims, and sorting materials. The vehicle processor will also be responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly segregated and prepared for sale along with maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dismantle vehicles using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
- Drain fluids from vehicles, including oil, gas, and coolant.
- Segregate and prepare all materials for sale, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, tires, and batteries.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of vehicles and their parts.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
- MUST PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREEN
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 8-5 (40 hour work week, one day off during week, possible overtime)
