Job Description
The Salvage Yard Laborer/Vehicle Processor is responsible for dismantling vehicles and preparing them for crushing. This includes draining fluids, removing batteries, catalytic converters, radiators, mercury switches, tires/rims, and sorting materials. The vehicle processor will also be responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly segregated and prepared for sale along with maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dismantle vehicles using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
Drain fluids from vehicles, including oil, gas, and coolant.
Segregate and prepare all materials for sale, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, tires, and batteries.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position.
Knowledge of vehicles and their parts.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
MUST PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREEN
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in various weather conditions.
