Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper for a small construction/trades company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in bookkeeping software. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in supporting the financial health of our organization.
Duties
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices and payments.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy of accounts.
- Assist in budgeting processes by providing necessary financial data and insights.
- Collaborate with management to analyze financial reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards as applicable.
- Utilize bookkeeping software such as Sage or Xero to streamline accounting processes.
- Stay informed about financial concepts and best practices to enhance the efficiency of the accounting department.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, demonstrating strong knowledge of general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping software (experience with Sage or Xero is preferred).
- Solid understanding of debits, credits, and basic financial concepts.
- Experience with budgeting processes and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting practices is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and management.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
