Work Schedule: Annual/8 hours per day
Grade/Level: ASSTD
FLSA: Exempt
Primary Function: Ability to develop routes and schedules. General knowledge of budget preparation and implementation. Extensive knowledge of bus maintenance, safety inspections and bus maintenance equipment. Ability to represent Transportation Department at a variety of meetings. Extensive knowledge of federal transportation guidelines.

Qualifications:
Minimum of high school diploma or GED
Two (2) years’ experience in a pupil transportation environment
Excellent communication and organization skills
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Assists in the planning, organization, and day to day operations of the Transportation Department
Conducts long-range planning activities including cost analysis and recommendations for improving the overall effectiveness of transportation services
Prepares annual transportation reports and assists with the preparation of the department budget
Serves as liaison between department personnel, parents, district employees and the public at large
Assists school administrators to resolve discipline problems occurring on school buses
Responds to requests for information and complaints, and resolves problems from parents and citizens pertaining to the transportation of students
Supervises bus recruitment, train, and retention
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with schools, other District departments, outside governmental agencies, and local and state law enforcement community
Works with District personnel, transportation employees, students, parents, and others to improve the overall transportation services offered by the District
Investigates any disputes regarding bus stop location, pick up or drop off times, efficiency of routing or route information and insure that information is accurately loaded into the routing software
Supervises and assists with the evaluation of transportation department employees
Conducts on site investigations of bus stops, bus routes, operating procedures of bus drivers and vehicles.
Oversees maintenance and repair of the school buses and other vehicles owned by the PCSD
Oversees procedures for systematic bus maintenance and safety inspections
Works with bus drivers and local school personnel to ensure that safe riding practices are followed
Ensures compliance with all federal transportation guidelines, state laws and Georgia Department of Education policies
Assist in long-range planning activities including cost analysis and recommendations for improving the overall effectiveness of transportation employees
Supervises all field trips and athletic trips from submission by the school through assignment of driver and billing of schools
