Reports To: Senior Executive Director of Transportation
Work Schedule: Annual/8 hours per day
Grade/Level: G-1
FLSA: Exempt
Primary Function: Ability to perform a wide variety of clerical and secretarial duties. Serve as liaison between administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and the public. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software. Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnel. Good decision-making and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Qualifications:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of bus driving experience
Valid CDL license with “S” and “P” endorsements required; Must be able to successfully pass State Bus Driver Annual Physical Exam
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Supervises school bus operators and operations of designated bus routes in the district
Works effectively with central office departments, school administration, teachers, drivers, students, and parents
Attends professional learning as required
Shows competency in management of all aspects of the Transportation Department, assists the Director of Transportation as needed
Remains current of changing laws and regulations affecting pupil transportation
Schedules meetings with drivers to communicate pertinent information and updated training
Initiates and receives telephone calls
Assists with routing procedures including realignment, adjustment, and continuous maintenance activities
Inspects the road conditions on bus routes and stops periodically, and makes follow-up recommendations for corrections to any issues that may be found
Observes buses during routes
Investigates accidents involving county vehicles and submits written reports and recommendations to effectively deal with related problems
Travels to schools to help resolve student discipline or driver-related problems
Informs Director of Transportation and Assistant Director of Transportation of irregular situations in the department
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the school bus road-e-o concept and supports its use as an instructional tool
Conducts periodic personal inspections of department vehicles
Takes an active role in educating students on school bus safety procedures
Functions as a bus driver as needed
Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
