Summary
The GIS Specialist manages, analyzes, and automates geospatial data processes to support PMG’s pavement management and infrastructure assessment initiatives. This role involves developing and maintaining geodatabases, publishing Web GIS, performing GIS analyses, and implementing AI-based solutions to enhance spatial data accuracy. The GIS Specialist will collaborate with internal and external teams, including municipalities, to ensure data integrity, process optimization, and effective decision-making.
Responsibilities of the Role
Main Areas
Geospatial Data Management & Analysis
- Publish and Configure Web GIS.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise geodatabases for roadway and infrastructure data.
- Perform spatial data analysis and generate GIS-based reports for pavement management projects.
- Validate and integrate field data collected through video.
- Implement data QC/QA, cleaning, and validation processes to improve geospatial data accuracy.
Automation & AI Integration
- Develop Python scripts and/or automation tools to streamline GIS workflows.
- Implement AI-driven solutions to improve geospatial data processing and classification.
- Optimize GIS tools and workflows to enhance decision-making.
Collaboration & Technical Support
- Support municipalities and clients in understanding and utilizing GIS solutions.
- Work closely with the operations team to integrate GIS-based insights into pavement management strategies.
- Train and support internal and offshore teams in GIS best practices and data handling procedures.
- Ensure alignment between GIS data management and broader project objectives.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working with GIS applications in an operational or infrastructure setting.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Experience in geodatabase management, spatial analysis, and GIS automation.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Field Maps, FME, ModelBuilder, and/or QGIS.
- Experience developing and managing enterprise geodatabases.
- GISP Certification is a plus.
- Experience working with municipal GIS systems or infrastructure projects.
- Programming skills in Python, SQL, Arcade, or similar for GIS automation.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize workflows.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
