What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Crew Lead position at Pavement Resources?
OVERVIEW – The concrete crew lead is a knowledgeable, intentional, lead-by-example specialist who focuses on the quality that contributes to company success. This position is seasonal (approximately April – November), with the potential for year-round work activities. Between April and November, this role is hourly, full-time, in the field daily from Mon-Fri with some Saturdays, and responsible for partnering with the owner on a daily basis, to ensure work projects are completed in a timely and quality manner. High energy and reliability are key attributes of this role and contribute to the tone of excellence and high expectations for the entire Pavement Resources team.
PRIMARY TASKS – This position is responsible for the daily activities of supporting a small business toward daily success, including:
· Leadership: Leading and Supervising a 1-3 person concrete crew, ensuring quality work is done on the sidewalk, curb with gutter, and storm drain repairs completed.
· Mechanical aptitude: Operate skidsteer loader, wheel loader, assist with equipment repair and general maintenance in company shop.
· Teamwork: While this position will spend time operating equipment such as a skidsteer loader, as an employee of a small company they will need to lead the project from beginning to end, and assist the laborers as needed.
· Time management: ability to manage project schedule and tasks each work week.
Note: A great fit for our company will be someone willing to help with asphalt jobs as we build our work schedule to make this a full-time concrete role. Ideally this transition to a fully concrete role will take place between mid-2025 and fall 2026.
REQUIREMENTS – The following experience and background information is mandatory to be successful in this role:
· Minimum 5 years concrete flatwork, curb with gutter experience including:
o Remove and replace existing sidewalk panels and curb with gutter
o Installing new concrete sidewalks and curb with gutter from start to finish
o Saw cutting joints
· Minimum 2 years crew lead/foreman experience
· Minimum 2 years skidsteer loader experience, including:
o Using jackhammer attachment to breakup existing concrete
o Digging out grass and dirt
o Installing class 5 base
· Mechanical ability to diagnose equipment problems and repair if possible
· Pre-employment drug screening.
· Work history or resume with employment references.
· Good driving record.
· Must have own vehicle, clean and in good, drivable condition.
· No smoking policy-in vehicles, job sites, office, and shop.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - The following experience is preferred and can contribute to success in this role:
· Experience with any of the following:
o Asphalt, landscaping, excavating, water/sewer
