What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at Pavement Technology, Inc.?
Pavement Technology Inc. has been the leader in rejuvenating asphalt for over 50 years. We aim to offer long-term, environmentally responsible technologies to rejuvenate roadways, stabilize road joints, restore seals, suppress dust, and restore recycled asphalt. We seek a responsible Service Technician to diagnose problems and perform standard mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on the company's trucks and heavy equipment. When needed, the mechanic must be willing to travel out of town for up to a week to assess and maintain fleet equipment in the field.
Candidates must be able to repair and/or replace all components of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, suspension systems, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems. In addition, willing to learn how to diagnose and repair street sweepers, tanker trucks, and dump trucks.
Other duties include:
- Perform annual inspections, quality preventative maintenance inspections, and quality maintenance repairs on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and other company-owned equipment.
- Read the work order supplied by the drivers
- Record services and repairs to maintain accurate vehicle records
- Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications
- Conduct field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
- Complete oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
- Assist in ordering parts
- Accept all deliveries
- Maintain shop inventory
- Follow and report any safety hazards and/or unsafe conditions
- Responsible for reading and responding to all communication (email, text, and messages sent through Bamboo) within 24 hours.

Are you qualified?
- Minimum age 21
- Valid driver’s license
- Paid hourly for all hours worked
- Some overnight travel to fix equipment on the job site
- Willing to obtain a CDL in the first year of employment. Tuition reimbursement is available.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions
- High level of initiative
- Familiarity with the safe and effective use of power, air, and hand tools
- Ability to lift 30 or more lbs.
- Diesel experience is a plus.
- CDL a plus
- Routine background, alcohol, and drug testing
