Pawnee Mental Health Services is a private, not-for-profit community mental health center dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to strengthen the wellness of our communities. Operating across 10 counties in North-Central Kansas, we provide a full range of psychotherapy, crisis services, medication management, and substance abuse recovery services to over 7,000 adults, adolescents, and children every year. The Role You Play

As a Crisis Case Manager, you’ll play a critical role in delivering community-based crisis interventions to individuals wherever they are, including their homes, workplaces, or other locations. You’ll also collaborate with hospitals, behavioral health providers, law enforcement, and other agencies to provide the necessary support.

In this role, you will assist in emergency department and justice system diversions, work as part of a two-person team, and provide crisis intervention in a variety of settings.

  • The Day-to-Day
  • Respond to individuals in crisis wherever they are, without restricting services to specific locations or times of day.

  • Triage, screen for suicidality, de-escalate situations, and provide resolutions.
  • Collaborate with medical / behavioral health services and connect clients to appropriate resources.
  • Assist clients with crisis planning, including creating safety plans and follow-up coordination.
  • Provide transportation for clients, when necessary, in company vehicles.
  • Support Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) operations, including rounds, contraband checks, and documentation.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Follow up with clients to ensure services were provided in a timely and effective manner.

  • Provide individual and group support to clients admitted to the CSU.
  • Collaborate with inpatient psychiatric facilities and other providers for client care coordination.
  • Conduct crisis follow-ups for clients diverted from hospitalization or recently discharged.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record system.
  • Who You Are

    This role requires flexibility in scheduling and adaptability in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. You’ll need excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to succeed in this role.

    Requirements : Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or equivalent work experience, or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education with one year of experience substituting for one year of education.
  • One year of experience working in mental health / crisis services.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
  • Basic personal computer skills which enable the entry, retrieval and use of electronic data.
  • A valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure.
  • Preferred :

  • Knowledge of the needs and challenges of adults and children who experience Severe and Persistent Mental Illness and Severe Emotional Disturbance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Certified in Basic CPR, First Aid, and / or MANDT – if not, will be required to certify at the earliest opportunity.
