They will also be responsible for fund management and any additional reporting requirements of the grants. This role involves developing compelling grant proposals, managing the grant application process, and maintaining positive relationships with funders to support Pawnee's mission and programs.

The Role You Play
The Grant Writer is responsible for identifying, researching, and securing mid-sized and large grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. They will also be responsible for fund management and any additional reporting requirements of the grants. This role involves developing compelling grant proposals, managing the grant application process, and maintaining positive relationships with funders to support Pawnee's mission and programs.
- Grant Research and Identification:
- Conduct in-depth research to identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and/or government agencies.
- Analyze funding guidelines, priorities, and eligibility requirements to assess alignment with organizational needs.
- Develop and maintain a grants calendar, tracking deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting schedules.
- Proposal Development & Writing:
- Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications tailored to the funders' priorities.
- Collaborate with cross departmental teams and leadership to gather necessary data and narratives for proposals.
- Ensure proposals effectively communicate Pawnee's mission, impact, and funding needs.
- Edit and proofread proposals to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with grant requirements.
- Grant Management & Reporting:
- Track and monitor awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and timely use of funds.
- Prepare interim and final grant reports, providing funders with accurate and timely updates on program outcomes and expenditures.
- Work with the Data Analyst team to track any required outcomes.
- Maintain organized records of grant applications, awards, and correspondences.
- Funder Relations & Stewardship:
- Develop and maintain relationships with foundation officers, corporate sponsors, and other current, past, and potential funders.
- Assist in coordinating site visits, meetings, and presentations with funders as needed or required by the grant.
- Research and recommend strategies to enhance funder engagement and long-term partnerships.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of demonstrated, successful grant writing experience, particularly with large or government grants.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit funding, grant cycles, and philanthropic trends.
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills; strong attention to detail and storytelling ability.
- Ability to translate complex data and program details into compelling narratives.
- Proficiency in grant databases, donor management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and meet fundraising goals.
- Master's degree in a reasonably related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
