Position: Feline Shelter Operations Intern
Location: Paws and Claws Cat Rescue, 829 Chicago Ave, Evanston
Duration: 3 months
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Shelter Upkeep: Help with cleaning, laundry, dishes, organization, donation sorting and more.
- Cat Restraint: Safely and calmly restrain cats for examinations, treatments, and procedures, utilizing appropriate techniques for various temperaments.
- Administrative Support: Assist with daily administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Post-Surgical Monitoring: Observe and record vital signs and recovery progress of cats following surgical procedures, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Social Media: Gather content for our social media team focusing on the care of our cats and their medical needs
- Collaboration: Work effectively with the staff and volunteers, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Comfort with Cats: Must be at ease working with cats of all temperaments, including those that are anxious or aggressive.
- Initiative and Self-Motivation: Demonstrate a proactive attitude and the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing tasks efficiently and communicating effectively with team members.
