Job Summary
As a Kennel Cleaning Attendant at PAWS Chicago, you will be vital in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for PAWS Chicago animals. You will ensure the cleanliness of multiple areas within the PAWS Chicago Medical Center, including animal housing areas as well as common spaces. Your work will directly contribute to the health and well-being of PAWS Chicago animals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete daily cleaning tasks as assigned, completing checklist items and cleanliness best practices.
- Maintain the appearance of animal housing areas, this would include bedding, and the stocking of supplies.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and alert managers when restocking is needed.
- Coordinate with your manager, or other appropriate PAWS Chicago medical staff, on any observed changes or issues related to animal health or behavior as necessary.
- Assist with the preparation of animals for surgical procedures by ensuring proper food and water protocols are followed and necessary notices are displayed.
- Communicate any maintenance or cleanliness concerns to your manager, or other appropriate PAWS Chicago facilities staff.
- Clean common areas at the PAWS Chicago Medical Center, the may include vacuuming, mopping, trash removal, laundry, and dishes.
- Fulfill any other duties as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Passion for animals and commitment to animal welfare.
- Availability to work one weekend day and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform cleaning tasks in various areas of the shelter.
- Accountability for adhering to scheduled work hours and timely communication with supervisors regarding any scheduling conflicts.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, and prolonged standing or walking.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with team members and volunteers to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for shelter animals.
Physical Requirements
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
- Standing for sustained periods of time.
- Walking and moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or transitioning between work sites.
- Capability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs, frequently lift up to 30lbs, and constantly lift up to 10lbs.
- Comfort with repetitive motions
- Able to work in small confined places.
