The Dog House Of L.C. &L., Inc. in Chicago, IL is looking for passionate kennel attendants to join our team. We are located 7254 N Milwaukee Ave Niles, IL 60714. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and engaged.
Job Summary This is a FULL TIME Position
Supervise daycare and boarding dogs in a fun and safe environment. Provide enrichment and learning activates for all dogs in the play group.
Duties and responsibilities
Kennel Duties
- Feed and medicate dogs accurately
- Monitor behaviors of the dogs in play group for any inappropriate or unusual behaviors and report to a superior
- Interact with the dogs in a fun and friendly manner while maintaining pack stability and command
- Take care of any foster dogs that come in through the rescue
Reception and Customer Service Duties
- Greet clients and their dogs that come into the lobby in a friendly and professional manner
- Check dogs in and out for daycare, grooming, or boarding
- Answer client inquiries and make reservations either in person, over the phone, or through email
- Communicating with clients about their dog’s behavior or any issues they had during a stay in a professional and factual manner
Cleaning Duties
- Pick up after the dogs after they go to the bathroom
- Mop, sweep, dust, laundry, dishes and any additional cleaning tasks assigned during the shift
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Shovel, sweep and clean up outside as needed throughout the day
Working conditions
Position requires employee to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must have an open availability. Working in all types of weather is a possibility so an employee should be able to withstand the elements. Customer service is very important but occasionally an employee will need to handle difficult clients or situations in a professional manner. Working with dogs can be noisy at times, so employees must be able to tolerate and monitor noise levels.
Physical requirements
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, kneel, crouch, stoop, climb, lift objects and dogs up to 50lbs and do repetitive tasks. Must be able to visually see any health issues including injuries such as small scratches, punctures, redness, and limping. For employee safety they must be able to physically handle dogs of all sizes on and off leash.
This is a FULL TIME POSITION
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience handling dogs is a plus
- Must be friendly and professional
- Must be comfortable handling groups of dogs and maintaining control over the pack
- Must be able to multi task and think on your feet in certain situations
- Attention to details and recalling dog names and information about each dog is a must
- Must be reliable and have an open availability for shifts ranging from open to close, weekends and holidays
