The Clerk III-A Receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors and answering the main phone line for the School Administration Building. This position will provide clerical support to central office administrators, conveying general district information and providing support to families and schools. Clerk III-A Receptionist reports directly to the CFO.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, clients and visitors; exhibit a cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace with a diverse client population
- Answer telephones; screen calls, forward calls and /or records and forward messages timely and accurately; may transcribe messages from voicemail
- Respond courteously to immediate needs of visitors and callers; process student working papers for State of RI, Receives, sorts and distributes mail within the office; files correspondence and other materials as required.
- Assure timely and accurate data entry for school, district, state, and federal reporting purposes
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the school department postage machine
- Maintains and processes non-public textbooks: fulfill parent/school requests and returns, create purchase orders for various vendors to stock appropriate textbooks, update and complete state agency forms for reimbursement and update RI state list.
- Operate, trouble-shoot and arrange for service of general office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, calculator, postal machine etc.)
- As needed, provide support to other departments
- Ability to perform other duties assigned and support other departments as needed in order to meet the specific needs of the Pawtucket School Department and its students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bi-lingual
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a clerical/secretarial/administrative role
- Proficiency in working with computers: working knowledge of GSuite and/or Microsoft Suite
- Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience in school department setting
- Previous experience using Skyward
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequently required to stand, sit and walk
- Occasional lifting or carrying weighing up to 25 pounds
- The working conditions (light, noise level, temperature, etc. are typical of (primarily) an office setting although the employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions related to visits to school buildings or other locations
- Specific physical abilities include close vision and the ability to use computer monitors for long periods of time, as well as the ability to communicate verbally in person and on the telephone.
