Primary Role: The Communications Manager will be responsible for working with subject matter experts across the PAX topic areas and programs to support external communications. This will include working with PAX contractors to manage the process of publication editing, design, layout, and production; working with the PAX web team to update PAX websites at the request of program teams; responding to requests from program teams for specific social media posts or campaigns; and supporting the drafting and submission process for external publications. The Communications Manager will also have input into the program communication strategies and design decisions, as well as opportunities for development within the team.

Primary Responsibilities
- Managing the work of communication contractors including web design, editing, graphic design, and any additional contractors to execute PAX communication goals.
- Working with program staff to execute the publication process for PAX materials including ensuring that materials are edited, designed, and published
- Working with staff or contractors as needed, manage the PAX sapiens website to meet modern standards of impact.
- Support work with foundation staff to identify and place external media and op-eds that advance our communications goals.
- Oversee social media for the foundation.
- And other duties as required.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in Communications, which may include internships or work-study programs.
- Bachelor's in Communication, PR or a related field. Or 7 exp years in lieu of a Bachelors
- Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to plan, budget, manage, and close projects on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated experience in external organizational communications strategy and activities.
- Basic-level familiarity with the full range of organizational communication role and capacities to a degree to allow the oversight of specialist contractor execution of these roles. This includes basic information about social media outlets and strategy, document editing, design, and layout, and web design.
- Demonstrated experience working internationally and across cultures in culturally sensitive and appropriate ways.
- Commitment to PAX’s mission and values.
- Experience placing media pieces in high-impact outlets
- Direct experience and an active professional network in a field relevant to PAX’s work, such as major donor philanthropy, US-China relationships, and/or pandemic prevention.
- Networks or experience in multiple issue areas or across issues are particularly valued.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin)
- Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
- Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
