I. Position Title: Pool Maintenance Worker
II. Summary of Overall Purpose of Position: Under general supervision responsible for custodial duties, mowing, trimming, trash removal, set up for events and painting.
III. Essential Duties
- Maintains cleanliness of pool, decks, gutters and surrounding areas.
- Empties trash containers.
- Performs HAZMAT/safety inspections; maintains logs.
- Performs duties as a custodian as assigned (e.g. sweeping, locker room cleaning, etc. for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
- Performs minor repairs to pool equipment for the purpose of maintaining a safe operating condition.
- Prepares swimming facility for scheduled activities in coordinator with the Pool Manager.
- Attends meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Operate and maintain a variety of equipment such as vacuums, hoses, and various hand and power tools.
- Maintains a variety of records related to pool temperature, chlorine, pH, vacuuming and assigned activities.
IV. Marginal Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned.
V. Qualifications
Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Typically, this would be gained through: attending high school and one year custodial or related experience including some work maintaining pools. Licenses/Certifications: None Knowledge of: Equipment, materials and methods used in pool maintenance and general custodial work; safe use and care of cleaning materials and equipment used in pool maintenance and general custodial work; operation of hand and power tools and equipment used in custodial work and pool maintenance; proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies; requirements of maintaining pools and facilities in a safe and sanitary condition; and basic record-keeping techniques .
Ability to: Perform responsible maintenance and custodial duties; maintain surrounding areas in as safe and sanitary manner; understand and follow oral and written instructions; use cleaning materials safely and efficiently; and operate tools and equipment related to maintenance functions in a safe manner.
Skill in: Providing effective customer service and problem-solving. Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to furnish and obtain information from other departments.
Tool, Machine, Equipment Operation: Power washer, Pool Sweeper, Hand Mower, Weed Eater, Maintenance Tools, Miscellaneous Hand Tools, ladder.
VI. Working Conditions Physical Demands: Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain related to walking, standing, stooping sitting and reaching; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Talking, hearing, and seeing essential to performing required job functions.
Working Conditions: The employee is frequently exposed to various weather conditions.
