TITLE: DRIVER / TRAINER
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License – Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
- Must possess the following valid Student Transportation certificates:
- Behind The Wheel (BTW) Instructor
- Classroom (CR) Instructor
- Physical Performance Test (PPT) Instructor
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess valid certifications for CPR and First Aid or be able to obtain within forty five (45) days of employment
- Three (3) years of documented safe driving experience is preferred.
- Health and age requirements as may be required by rule, regulation, law or the Governing Board.
- Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
JOB GOAL:
The Driver / Trainer holds monthly safety meetings and coordinates the training, testing and certifying of bus and other District vehicle drivers and bus attendants.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.

- Coordinates, organizes, and assures compliance for the Arizona Bus Driver Certification Program.
- Provides any training that would be needed as a result of bi-yearly driver evaluations and provides updates to the Director of Transportation.
- Coordinates, prepares, and delivers ongoing training programs for all Transportation department staff.
- Examines and recommends District transportation training policy and procedure updates.
- Coordinates the defensive driving review program for drivers and when needed, remedial training of bus drivers and bus attendants.
- Drives bus routes as directed by the Director of Transportation.
- Makes the well being of students the fundamental value in all decision making.
- Performs all duties in a safe and prudent manner.
- Follows District policies.
- Coordinates and facilitates the Transportation Safety Committee.
- Participates in and /or leads in-service programs.
- Participates in continuing professional growth programs.
- Performs other duties relating to general job function as assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Knowledge of:
- District policies, operations and organization.

- Safe operation of school buses

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Require mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
- Perform work which involves the frequent lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects which may approximate 50 pounds and may occasionally weigh up to 100 pounds.
- May be required to work around foul odors, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, electrical current.
- Is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
- May be required to work evenings or weekends.
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Transportation in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy for evaluation of classified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Classified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
