We are seeking a talented Director Benefits & Compensation to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.
The Director Benefits & Compensation provides leadership and strategic direction for the design, implementation, communication, and administration of all benefit and compensation-related programs. This role formulates and directs benefit and compensation strategies while implementing programs that support and drive the attainment of business objectives, address diverse workforce needs, respond to competitive labor market conditions, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic vision and design input to the overarching strategies; implements and manage comprehensive health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, and wellness initiatives, including medical, prescription drug, vision, dental, life, voluntary benefits, disability and leave management
- Design and lead multiple wellness programs that foster a culture of health, improve employee engagement, and address organizational well-being goals
- Lead annual open enrollment project from beginning to end, including plan design updates, development of communication strategy, system updates, and employee education campaigns
- Create year-round communications to promote benefits and wellness offerings to increase awareness and address employee inquiries
- Monitor administrative costs and pricing of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternate methods of administration
- Manage the annual compensation review processes, including merit increases and annual bonuses; ensure processes align with business needs
- Oversee salary surveys; ensure data is up to date and synthesize relevant data results for internal use
- Maintain compliance with policies, regulations, and government reporting requirements, including overseeing audits and preparing state and federal filings
- Partner with HR, Finance, and HRIS teams to optimize administration, ensure compliance, and integrate Workday functionality
- Provide guidance and support to corporate and local HR teams, ensuring their understanding and adherence to benefits and HR policies specific to the high-touch environment
- Resolve high-complexity issues leveraging in-depth knowledge of plan benefits and standard operating procedures
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and team engagement through strong leadership capability
- Supervise, guide, and foster the professional development of the total rewards team
- Lead vendor management; maintain relationships with vendors, including insurers, retirement plan providers, actuaries and wellness partners; and negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality of services
- Monitor industry trends, legislation, and best practices to ensure programs remain competitive and aligned with PBF’s mission and objectives
- Identify opportunities to optimize processes, automate tasks, and simplify tools, creating scalable methods to improve HR operations and streamline key workflows
- Anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Ten or more years of progressive experience in benefits and compensation administration
- Minimum of five (5) years of people management experience
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of current benefits and compensation laws, regulations, and best practices
- Strong presentation skills; ability to speak across various forums and connect with diverse audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret data and metrics to drive informed decision-making and the ability to translate business needs into actionable strategies
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team and drive results in a fast-paced, high-touch environment
- Comfortable with rolling-up their sleeves, accustomed to being hands-on
- Able to travel up to 35% of the time
- Previous experience with Workday and leave of absence tracking technologies
- CEBS and/or CRPP certification
- SHRM certification
