JOB SUMMARY & EXPECTATIONS:
The Community Partnership Director plays a critical role in increasing community support for PBS Reno through the sale of on-air underwriting, event sponsorships, digital advertising packages, and print media messages. This position is ideal for a passionate advocate of public media who is motivated to succeed in both client stewardship and outreach, including cold calls. Strong interpersonal skills, a results-driven mindset, and a willingness to learn are key attributes for success in this role. This role is responsible for securing the sponsors behind those messages, acting similarly to an advertising account executive but with a unique focus on mission-driven, community-minded partnerships. This position blends sales and fundraising to support PBS Reno’s meaningful programming, offering comprehensive guidance, support, and training opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and secure sponsorships from businesses and organizations through proactive outreach, including cold calls, follow-ups with existing or prior sponsors, and outside sales efforts.
- Achieve written sales goals (revenue and prospects) reviewed regularly with the VP of Development.
- Prepare and deliver compelling professional presentations for potential clients.
- Submit timely sales forecasts and performance reports.
- Secure sponsorships that support locally produced series, events such as the annual Spotlight Awards and Auction, the monthly program guide, online initiatives, and additional station services and products.
- Negotiate and arrange contracts for on-air announcements and sponsor recognition.
- Maintain and update current and prospective sponsor files and databases, including contracts and all relevant records.
- Identify new sponsorship opportunities through media monitoring and industry research.
- Collaborate with the Development Department team to support other station initiatives and events.
- Assist the VP of Development in establishing corporate revenue projections and budgets for each fiscal year.
- Utilize data-driven insights from resources such as Nielsen and MRI to inform sponsorship strategies.
- Represent PBS Reno at community events to engage potential sponsors and develop new business opportunities.
- Ensure all underwriting messages comply with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A strong passion for public media and PBS Reno’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, communications, or a related field
(or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated success in sales or fundraising roles.
- Experience in public broadcasting or media sales is a plus.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, sales pipeline management, and data-driven sales strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to craft compelling sponsorship proposals that align with PBS Reno’s mission.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of performance metrics and ability to analyze sponsorship impact.
