What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at PC Construction Company Career Center?
PC is seeking a Safety Specialist in Virginia Beach. This position is responsible for implementing and living PC’s “Safety Starts With Me Culture”. This position is a key member of our safety team, working with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure that PC maintains and improves our EMR year after year through a combination of compliance, enforcement and collaboration.

The position requires a B.S. in Occupational Safety or related discipline, a strong ability to communicate (English and Spanish-speaking is preferred but not required), and computer proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Management with the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Project Specific Safety Plan.
- Assist the project team with daily pre-planning activities, through risk assessments and job hazard analysis, identifying hazards and implementing controls.
- Provide leadership and assume ownership of our overall safety culture; foster a proactive reporting environment, and anticipate problems and provide effective solutions.
- Conduct regular project safety inspections, report deficiencies, analyze inspection and incident data to identify opportunities to develop preventive and corrective practices.
- Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with all local, state, & federal regulations.
- Conduct, develop, and oversee all project wide related safety training.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and conclusions; and monitor results to make improvements or take corrective action.
