What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Production Supervisor - Hexacomb position at PCA?
Principle Accountabilities:
Coordinate activity with the plant manager to plan and manage daily and weekly schedules to meet production goals, prioritize work orders, maintain quality requirements, and assure an even flow of work through all the departments with an increase up-time and minimize unscheduled downtime. Schedules work, coordinates production activities, provides direct oversight of employees, approves time records, communicates and implements company policy. Engages in employee development activities, makes recommendations on employee hire, promotion and disciplinary action. Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees. Conduct employee training on all equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations and waste control on an ongoing basis. Analyze production performance, identify opportunities, make recommendations for process and equipment improvement, establish and execute goals. Supervise efficient operation of equipment including the inspection of materials, products and equipment to detect and/or prevent malfunctions. Participate in production meeting and provide updates as needed. Request materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as needed. Know and follow policies and procedures of the company, shares information that would benefit other members of the team and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers. Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. 4 yrs.previous experience in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment.Previous experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution. Working knowledge of manufacturing systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
4 yrs.previous experience in a supervisory capacity at a corrugated or containerboard manufacturing facility.
Established knowledge of corrugated and packaging manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures including continual improvement processes, safety practices, and quality control.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests. Able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing assignments, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, and requests for information. Able to work flexible hours as needed. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with production team and management. Previous work experience as a member of a team, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing between team members.
