Position Summary
Portland Community College’s Automotive Service Technology program is seeking a new full-time faculty member. The Automotive Service Technology program is a recognized leader in preparing future technicians for the evolving industry. We are currently looking for a full-time faculty member who has up-to-date automotive repair knowledge to teach a variety of courses in our field. Examples of such courses may include : Electrical Systems, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning, and Undercar Systems. We are committed to serving all students through culturally responsive educational practices. We seek a full-time faculty member who is committed to using cultural knowledge, prior lived experiences, and diverse frames of reference to make learning encounters more relevant to all genders and ethnicities.

- Demonstrated current technical knowledge of auto service repair, with recent auto repair industry experience
- Recent teaching or training experience, and success in lecture and practical training environments (particularly in the field of auto service repair).
- Demonstrated proficiency using technology (for example MS Office), including presentation and instructional / training software applications.
- Remains current in the field and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Knowledge of and commitment to a culture of safety.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates an awareness of the need to teach industry-specific content in ways that value and include differences in individual experiences, cultural, ethnic, gender, linguistic diversity and socioeconomic status.
Minimum Qualifications

Note : Related Instruction qualifications follow the Experience section below. Experience : A combination of automotive teaching experience in an accredited institution and / or automotive service and repair experience in a commercial repair facility equal to 5 full years, and have.

Starting Salary ExpectationsInitial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($73,911) and Step 3 (78,408) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS / OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS / OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
Paid Leave :
1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 per year)

Please note that Portland Community College is not currently able to provide visa ( H1-B Visa) sponsorship for potential employees.
Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. (for more information see )
