Director of Engineering
We’re seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and manage the overall operation of the hotel’s maintenance department. This strategic leadership role will involve developing and executing effective strategies, ensuring asset protection, managing capital expenditures, and promoting a positive and productive work environment. You’ll play a key role in driving the performance of the department, from developing preventative maintenance plans to overseeing new construction projects. Your leadership will contribute to the continued success of the Grand Hotel by fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Strategy Development: Lead the creation and execution of an engineering operating strategy aligned with PCH's business goals, driving key initiatives to enhance the property’s performance.
- Communication & Team Leadership: Foster ongoing communication and set clear departmental goals to drive results. Collaborate with your team to troubleshoot challenges and conflicts in operations.
- Innovation & Market Trends: Stay informed about new engineering products and trends, introducing innovative solutions that keep the property competitive.
- Preventative Maintenance & Asset Protection: Develop and execute a long-term preventative maintenance plan and a ten-year asset protection strategy.
- Compliance & Regulation: Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations, and manage construction projects to meet deadlines and budget.
- Guest Relations: Actively engage with guests to gather feedback on engineering services and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
- Staff Development & Performance: Set clear expectations for direct reports, conduct annual performance reviews, and maintain an open-door policy to address concerns.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the engineering budget, reviewing financial reports to assess departmental performance.
- Project Oversight & Vendor Relations: Oversee renovations, new construction projects, and service contracts to ensure timely, cost-effective completion.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in hotel engineering and facilities management
- In-depth knowledge of engineering systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage and motivate teams
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Understanding of relevant local, state, and federal regulations
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Physical stamina for hands-on management and overseeing various engineering tasks
