POSITION SUMMARY

 The Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship is a full-time appointment. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the delivery of behavioral health services at three  Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) Healthcare Centers in Philadelphia, PA.  Primarily, the postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for delivering a trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention for adults impacted by gun violence. This CBT program is a component of PCOM’s gun violence education and treatment initiative, SHELTER (Support and Healing through Empowerment, Learning, and Trauma Education in Recovery after gun violence). Additionally, the Fellow will work as a member of the Healthcare Centers’ multidisciplinary teams to provide psychological assessment and treatment for patients with behavioral health concerns commonly seen in primary care, including substance use disorders, weight management, medication adherence issues, depression, and anxiety. The Fellow will be supervised by licensed clinical psychologists embedded at the Healthcare Centers and in the PCOM Department of Clinical Psychology, and will work closely with osteopathic physicians, residents, psychology interns, and graduate students. The Fellow will participate in didactics and seminars on the topics of clinical psychology, trauma, and gun violence prevention and treatment, and may contribute to program evaluation data analysis and dissemination.

PCOM's Healthcare Centers were established to serve the medical needs of the community by providing a variety of quality and easily accessible healthcare services in one location. SHELTER programming will be offered at no cost to eligible participants.

This position is funded for three years. Funding of this position is contingent upon the continued funding of the grant/contract. This position will require full-time work in three locations in Philadelphia, PA (Hassman Family Medicine Center/City Ave, Cambria and Lancaster Divisions).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
• Deliver a manualized, trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral therapy program (SHELTER) for adults impacted by gun violence at three PCOM Healthcare Centers;
• Work with the Program Coordinator, clinic faculty/staff, externs, and Project Directors to identify and enroll eligible patients into the SHELTER program;
• Schedule SHELTER program participant clinical visits and coordinate program participant payments;
• Administer standardized clinical assessments and collect data over the course of SHELTER treatment (i.e., PCL-5, PHQ-9), and document scores in electronic record databases;
•Provide assessment, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention for Healthcare Center patients with behavioral health concerns;
• Work in multidisciplinary treatment teams, working closely with osteopathic physicians, nurses, behavioral health providers and primary care staff;
• Attend SHELTER program meetings;
• Participate in PCOM and SHELTER events and support medical/psychoeducational programs to the PCOM community on gun violence prevention and treatment;
• Co-supervise graduate-level psychology and counseling practicum and internship students;
• Obtain two hours per week of individual clinical supervision by a licensed psychologist;
• Receive protected time for Examination of Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and state exam study;
• Participate in program-related evaluation and dissemination efforts, including peer-reviewed manuscripts and conference presentations;
• Follow the SHELTER program’s Standard Operating Procedures; and
• Perform related responsibilities as required. 
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
 
Education
• APA-accredited graduate program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)
• License-eligible (i.e., except for any supervised postdoctoral hours)
• Note: An approved CAS Exception is required for anyone who is charged to a federal grant or contract under this job code.
 
Experience
• Completion of a predoctoral internship program;
• Fulfillment of all requirements for Ph.D. or Psy.D. prior to starting the postdoctoral fellowship;
• Experience working in integrated health settings
• Interest in working in primary care settings, and with clients impacted by trauma.
 
Required Skills
• Knowledge Of: Cognitive-behavioral therapy
• Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Mild physical work. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building and drive/commute to sites.
• Must pass a background check.
