The PDS Health Summer Intern Program is a 10-week, on-site, full-time, paid internship that provides undergraduate students with invaluable insight and experience into the operation of a large multi-state employer.
The Legal Intern will work alongside a dynamic team in our support center. Working within the Legal Department, this individual will contribute to PDS Health’s healthcare compliance and ethics program by providing compliance support for our dental and medical practices and work with members of the Compliance & Ethics Department to manage radiation regulations, policy management, and additional research and writing tasks as they arise. The Legal Intern may also be tasked with additional projects given by the Legal Team. A successful candidate will have an engaged, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, with the ability to work closely with team members to ensure regulatory compliance while business needs are met; will understand and nurture the philosophy of the PDS Health's Compliance & Ethics Program, which is to leverage our organizational values and desired behaviors to inspire team members towards self-governance.

Compensation Information
$22.60-$29.40 / Hourly

Responsibilities
- Exemplify the culture of PDS Health; facilitate the evolution of the PDS Health culture as a strategic differentiator
- Proactively detect and deter misconduct and identify areas of legal risk or exposure
- Encourage team members regarding their responsibility to maintain a high level of ethical and legal behavior while performing their duties
- Provide oversight and support related to compliance with laws, regulations, and special conditions imposed upon PDS Health by licensing or regulatory authorities with respect to its operations
- Provide effective means for individuals to report allegations of non-compliance; and a process for the implementation of corrective action plans in response to any identified compliance issue
- Provide privacy program support to management across PDS Health and its supported practices
- The Intern is expected to utilize skills in research techniques and practices, while developing greater expertise in certain regulatory, compliance and privacy topics.
- Identify the need for, conduct research to inform the content of, draft and implement healthcare and compliance-related policies and procedures while managing the policy lifecycle
- Perform legal and regulatory research and analysis designed to support team members and provide strategic guidance on commercial programs, initiatives and processes that have healthcare compliance-related implications
- Perform assigned investigations and compliance program projects following PDS Health standards while keeping management well apprised of results and completion status
- Participate in large, complex, multi-location or system-wide projects or investigations, including work being performed under the direction of legal counsel12
- Proactively identify potential issues, support risk assessments and audits, and develop work plans to monitor and address identified risks
- Working towards a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and will be a rising 2L (Class of 2027) or rising 3L (Class of 2026) by Summer 2025
- Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations
- Ability to operate autonomously
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- High degree of professionalism
- Self-motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team
