What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Engineer position at PDS?
Tasks :
- Develop, analyze, and apply material properties and design allowables, processes and quality engineering specifications for welding applications specific to aerospace welding
- Provide material analyses including failure analysis, life predictions, definition and requirement specifications of both weld tooling and welded flight hardware assemblies.
- Review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures specific to welding operations
- Provide production oversite through firm understanding complex machinery and develop weld schedules / programs catered for that machinery
- Review weld data to determine trends and / or out of family weld telemetry and weld quality to foster weld system health and operations related to production welding and weld rework / repairs
- Provide weld engineering support with welding aluminum alloys and stainless steel with varying thicknesses in one or more of the following areas : friction stir welding (FSW), resistance spot welding (RSW), resistance seam welding (RSEW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), orbital tube welding (OTW), and laser welding
- Provide practical experience with weld system programming and weld system troubleshooting
- Knowledge of military and industry process specifications, applications and standards as related to welding and manufacturing operations
- Communication skills (verbal and written) including requirements documentation and presentations
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ability to work at elevated heights and small spaces.
