At Peacock, we are working to build an exceptional streaming experience for our users based on a deep understanding of their needs at every stage of the content discovery, validation, and viewing journey.
The Consumer Insights team is looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher to drive strategic bodies of research that support the Peacock product roadmap — defining new paths forward for the product while achieving organizational objectives and solving for immediate product and design needs.
This person will collaborate with cross functional partners across the Product, Design, Data Science, and Analytics teams, and will lead the research that not only helps the team validate and evaluate features, but also the foundational research that defines the future of our product.
Reporting to the Senior Director of User Research and Consumer Insights, the Senior Researcher will represent the voices of our users, embedding user insights into our product conversations and influencing senior product leaders as well as stakeholders across the organization.
Please Note: This is a project/limited term position expected to last 6 months unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting independent research on multiple aspects of consumer product and device experiences
- Collecting and analyzing user behavior via lab studies, field visits, online interviews, observational tests, ethnographies, surveys, benchmark studies, diary studies, and more
- Owning and driving your User Research roadmap, ensuring stakeholder and product needs are met and well aligned to achieve organizational KPIs and goals
- Influencing strategic and tactical product roadmaps
- Vendor management throughout the project lifecycle
- Communicating and socializing research findings effectively, translating complex insights into actionable recommendations for your stakeholders
- Connecting with other Research colleagues across NBCUniversal to share insights as well as lessons learned in conducting research
- Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously evolving our research methodologies and approaches
- Contributing to our collaborative, innovative, and inclusive research culture
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related field
- At least 6 years of experience conducting both foundational and tactical research, employing a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods — including surveys, moderated and unmoderated usability studies, diary studies, digital ethnographies, card sorting exercises, focus groups, etc.
- 5 years of experience conducting research on products
- Deep understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development lifecycle
- Broad familiarity with behavioral user analytics and how to incorporate them into UX research efforts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent data storytelling and presentation skills
- Experience partnering closely with designers, product managers, and data analysts
- Experience working with executive leadership and driving strategic product value through stakeholder influence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Sociology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related field
- Expertise in quantitative research methodologies
- Experience researching personalization and/or recommendation systems
- 3 years of experience working with executive leadership (i.e., Senior Director level and above)
- 2 years of experience managing projects and working in a large, matrixed organization
