Peak NA US Inc. is seeking a highly engaged, analytical, detail orientated, experienced Accountant to join our team in our Irvington, AL office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, multitasking and working as part of a collaborative team across multiple businesses and jurisdictions.
Primary responsibilities and duties:
Performing full cycle accounting functions including:
- Accounts Receivable including processing/issuing invoices, post payment receipts, track/follow up on aged receivables
- Accounts Payable including processing vendor invoices for approval and entry, bi-weekly cheque runs, employee expenses
- Gather bi-weekly hours for payroll processing and journal entries
- Accurately and efficiently process payroll for employees in three different companies, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment standards, and tax regulations, willing to take on additional payroll responsibilities as the company continues to grow
- Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities
- Preparing monthly and year-end journal entries, adjustments and accruals
- Support the monthly close process and preparation of financial statements
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with supervisor to develop resolutions
- Act as the main point of contact for Corporate HR, completing people related tasks as requested
- Work closely & collaboratively to develop and maintain relationships with clients, finance and operations team members
- Other duties as requested by the Head of Finance.
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in business administration or accounting is considered an asset
- 5 years of experience in a Bookkeeping or Accountant position
- Knowledge and application of GAAP accounting policies and practices
- Software Proficiency: Experience with payroll systems (ADP is a major plus) and a high level of comfort with MS Office programs including Word, Outlook and MS Excel
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and management information systems considered an asset
- Attention to detail, organization and numeracy skills are essential
- Honesty; integrity, transparency and reliability essential
- Critical thinking, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve accounting issues efficiently and remain calm
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
