What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Attorney - Family Law position at Peak Partners?
Peak Partners has a well-established not-for-profit organization in search of a Family Law Staff Attorney to join its team. The right candidate will be charged with representing survivors of domestic violence in proceedings in various jurisdictions, including throughout Maryland. Our client seeks applicants who are passionate about ending domestic violence, interested in public interest law, and have at least two years’ experience practicing family law or equivalent litigation experience. Additional training and mentorship on working with survivors of intimate partner violence and family law practice will be provided so experience in this sub-specialty is not required.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality representation in protective orders and family law cases.
- Conduct comprehensive consultations regarding divorce, custody, alimony and other divisions of marital property.
- Provide prompt, compassionate services.
- Maintain client database and systems.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Law degree and membership in good standing in the Maryland bar
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Minimum two years of experience practicing family law or equivalent litigation experience
