The Physical Therapist will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Physical Therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical oversight of Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapist Technicians, Athletic Trainers, Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist Interns, Student Physical Therapist and Student Physical Therapist Assistants. Duties also include collaboration of different departments.
- Operational management in overseeing the day to day operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Team leadership including: supervising and mentoring staff, foisting a collaborative and supportive work environment, and conducting regular staff meetings for guidance and communication.
- Monitoring and managing clinic budgets and expenses, collaborating with the finance department for financial optimization, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.
- Participation in staff recruitment, hiring and onboarding. Conducting performance reviews and providing ongoing training.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' physical conditions to identify impairments and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques to improve patients' strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and overall functional abilities.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, home exercise programs, and preventive measures.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Stay informed about advancements in physical therapy techniques and contribute to the development of best practices within the department.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and promoting a positive and respectful therapeutic environment.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient concerns and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Marketing and facilitating growth of the Grand Rapids clinic.
Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- CPR certification.
- Strong clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Interpersonal skills to market in the Grand Rapids community to facilitate growth of the clinic.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Leadership and management skills & experience.
- Understanding of fiduciary responsibilities to the company
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move equipment and assist patients as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand in place, walk, twist (knees/waist/neck), climb, push/pull and lift objects of various weights of up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for performing hands-on therapy techniques.
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of a busy clinical environment.
