A Regional MDS Coordinator oversees the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of Minimum Data Set (MDS) data across multiple long-term care facilities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and contributing to quality improvement and reimbursement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • MDS Data Management:


Oversee the accurate and timely completion of MDS assessments, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Training and Support:


Train staff on MDS protocols and procedures, providing ongoing support and guidance.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:


Analyze MDS data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.

  • Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration:


Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that MDS data is used to develop and implement individualized care plans.

  • Quality Improvement:


Participate in quality improvement initiatives, using MDS data to monitor and improve resident care.

  • Compliance:


Stay current with changes in federal and state regulations related to MDS and resident assessment.

  • Travel:


May be required to travel to multiple facilities within the region.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or a related field.
  • License: Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in long-term care or a related healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of MDS 3.0, RAI user manual, and RUG categories.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred: Certification in MDS coordination or related certification, experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management, knowledge of quality improvement processes in healthcare.
