Position Title: General Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Facilities Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly (Full-Time)
Summary:
The General Maintenance Technician position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of The Museum's Campus/facilities. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot various systems effectively. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and teamwork, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in optimal working condition.
Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum Facilities Staff are more than just work staff. We maintain, preserve and upkeep historical buildings and spaces. Our hangars, iconic tower and facilities are themselves exhibits that we share with the local and international community. We take great pride in presenting the museum to the public. We are continuing to expand our grounds and exhibits and are looking for staff that want to be a part of something bigger. Custodial duties are a part of the position. However, there are many duties this position is responsible for in order to keep the museum operational and running smoothly and efficiently. Position reports to Facilities Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs custodial duties, cleans, and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Assists with maintaining the interior and exterior of buildings.
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Provides setup, breakdown and other support functions for events and meetings.
- Assists with security, crowd management, traffic flow, and visitor communications as needed.
- Driving and maintaining museum vehicles as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Possible Nights, Weekends, Holidays with advance notice when possible may be required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Military base access (DBIDs). Clearance on background check is required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Related experience preferred.
- On-the-job training offered.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
