The Role of Milling/Paving Superintendent
This position will oversee and manage all aspects of milling and paving operations on construction sites. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe working environment.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise milling and paving activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Lead and mentor a team of operators, laborers, and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of work performed to ensure compliance with engineering standards and quality expectations.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations, conducting safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety on-site.
- Manage equipment, materials, and labor resources efficiently to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project managers, providing updates on progress and addressing any concerns.
- Identify and resolve issues that may arise during milling and paving operations, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including labor hours, material usage, and equipment maintenance.
Requirements:
- 10 years of relevant construction experience.
- Extensive knowledge of paving, milling, and grading operations.
- Able to accept out-of-town work and/or night and occasional weekend work.
- Extensive knowledge of survey and layout.
- Excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, communication, and ability to collaborate.
- Able to multi-task and make quick and thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills required.
- A valid driver's license.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Travel and Work Environment:
This position requires regional travel. Most work will be in the New York/Vermont region, although a wider geographic reach could be expected. The role will involve working in a dynamic environment, often with heavy workloads and physical demands.
