Job Summary: The Behavioral Based Safety Specialist is responsible for BBS program and the training elements within. The BBS Specialist will develop a management system to capture all the elements of BBS and project leading indicators to guide Panasonic for safety culture. This position will lead the way for improvements and breakthroughs for employee engagement at all levels of the organization. Additionally, this role will be required to maintain active communication with management and other employees about all BBS-related components and overall execution of Behavioral Based Safety elements to ensure Panasonic culture.
Essential Duties:
- Foster and champion a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across PECNA, serving as a role model and advocate for company values.
- Lead initiatives to integrate Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) principles into the organization's culture, ensuring alignment with PECNA's mission and strategic goals.
- Establish and manage a robust system for tracking and analyzing BBS program elements, leveraging data insights to create leading indicators that drive engagement across all organizational levels.
- Utilize data to establish leading indicators within Behavioral applications to enhanced engagement for all levels of the organization.
- Partner with leaders and employees to co-develop and execute strategic implementation plans, enhancing safety outcomes and building organizational buy-in.
- Lead the behavioral aspects of incident response and investigations, providing actionable insights to prevent recurrence.
- Communicate clearly and interactively and the ability to coach and influence at all levels throughout the organization.
- Develop, analyze, and present comprehensive reports to leadership, contributing to data-driven decision-making and the refinement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee and deliver safety training and orientation programs for new hires, ensuring seamless integration into the organization.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and developments in Behavioral-Based Safety, introducing innovative practices and tools to elevate PECNA's safety culture.
- Conduct safety audits, monitor adherence to BBS processes, and recommend enhancements to minimize incidents and promote a preventive safety culture.
- Implement various Behavior Based Programs to promote initiative-taking solutions.
- Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
- Perform tasks that may be assigned by Manager of Occupational Health & Safety
- Proactively identify and act on opportunities to continuously improve.
- Demonstrated experience with Training, Coaching & Influencing all levels of the organization without direct line reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance, to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Report quality issues, concerns, or deviations from standards to Supervisors and Engineers in a timely manner.
- Maintain detailed inspection, quality issues and deviation records as required.
- Ensure adherence to quality, general plant and PECNA policies and procedures.
- Ensure area cleanliness and 6S standards are met.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
Qualifications:
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Required: High school diploma, GED or 2 years of prior experience in functional area
Essential Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field, such as Occupational Health & Safety, Behavioral Safety, Continuous Improvement, or a related area in a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of experience in training, coaching all levels of an organization.
- Experience with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, and EPA
- Skills in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
- Up to date on technological trends and willing to learn them, when applicable
- Self-starter, with general instructions, strong attention to detail.
- Creative, design oriented, up to date with latest technologies and learning styles
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment
- Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against production goals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to give formal presentations to large groups and communicate successfully with all levels of employees and management
- Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure
- Knowledge of computer applications to build electronic system pulling together multiple elements do guide and develop dynamic culture.
