What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at Peco Foods?
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is a leading member of the Safety Team. The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist takes the lead in reinforcing the safety and compliance functions at AR Live Operations & facility.
Essential Functions
- Manages the facility’s safety initiatives to ensure the prevention of injury, illness and property damage/loss.
- Oversees advanced issues of workplace environmental and health safety.
- Maintains all Environmental and Safety records and documents.
- Serves as “Safety Coach” to line supervisors and local managers collaboratively working and training department leaders to reinforce safety and compliance in their perspective departments.
- Schedules and conducts monthly safety training.
- Completes and submits AR Feed Mill, Hatchery and Truck Shop(s) annual OSHA log.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Three or more years in training and instructional systems design responsibilities in safety and/or medical experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience welcomed
Desired Technical Skills
- Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office, i.e., Excel, Word, and Outlook
Position Requirements
- Minimal lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
- Sitting, Standing, and walking for extended periods of time
- Noisy, wet and humid environment
